Amazon Protests Reaction/opinion/discussion after reading Business Insider article
- They're just protesting because of news that Amazon is earning and Bezos too. They should just have a sense of accomplishment, wait for raises and/or promotions.
- It's good for everyone getting good wages, but the protests are senseless. Why protest a company for being good at what it does, for putting together a good team, offering efficient services and products? Besides if you keep raising wages nobody really wins, because the prices of goods and services go up as well. You may have a large amount coming in, but a large amount bleeds out from the back as well. IMHO, Amazon is earning mostly because of volume and less about the profit margin. It does this because of efficiencies and investment put into machinery, computers and devices. Think of all the value Amazon is able to add to the community and globally for doing what the company does.
- They always have a choice to work elsewhere if they can find work. Amazon is not forcing them to be there. And there are others who are out of work globally who would be glad to have those jobs.
- If they want to have a chunk of the earnings they could have just bought the stock shares. Of course the company or Bezos can be generous and give them shares too to give them a sense of ownership, but Amazon should not be forced to. Generosity is best served freely. Also for some people, give them a drumstick and they'll clamor for the other drumstick.
- Another solution is to give employees some of the stuff that are for returns and Amazon ends up throwing away.
- Speaking of shares, Bezos is mostly rich because of shares. Protestors could go and start their own company if they envy Bezos so much. But be warned, there is a high chance of failure.
- Those unions making noise again. Of course there are benefits of unions like work safety and fair wages. But sometimes they are just making noise, and also add more costs/deductions to the worker's salary. Want higher pay? One possible solution is to remove union dues.
- Caveat: many unions do good work. Striking a synergy between the company and its workers. Achieving much for HR. Working with everyone, accomplishing a dialogue. Aiming for the greater common good. Very professional.
- Again, we want quality of life for workers. But protesting about a company's earnings is beneath the workers, makes a mockery of their intelligence and makes them look envious for money.
- From past performance, who do you think will make better use of the money, Amazon the company or the workers? Amazon is making money because of wise decisions and good management. Workers can try to rise through the ranks, through experience or training instead of protesting like spoiled children.
