People say "Christianity is a crutch." But for me, believing in Jesus is actually more of a challenge, an adventure, one that you could even lose your life in, or in the end actually be able to keep it. On the path to worldly success/wealth, being part of the Christian congregation/family has often led to circumstances that have diverted me from this path of worldly gains, and perhaps has turned me away from destruction or calamity many times. After those roadblocks/setbacks, the support I have received has helped me to get back up and live an even more meaningful life.
So maybe Christianity / the Christian family, can be a crutch, that is, after you have embarked on the Christian challenge/adventure. It is there to help you to learn to walk again after you get injured from what it actually is: a great adventure.
Warning: Remain sensible in your grand adventure, if you choose to accept it. Consult the instruction/documentation manual, the Bible regularly. Train/observe/learn/listen with/ /from/to experienced elders. Communicate with God through prayer, unceasingly.
