Ways A Community Can Save Water To Survive Water Shortage

Here are some ways off the top of the author's head as to how to save water:
  • urinate in the yard, garden, forest. Saves the water used in flushing the toilet. Urine is also good for plants. Go ahead, google (or your favorite search engine) it.
  • if you can't do the above, let the females urinate first in the clean toilet bowl but don't flush upon leaving, then the men can go after. After everyone is done, or when it is crucial to have clean toilet water in the bowl again, that is when the bowl is flushed.
  • use a urinal instead of a toilet bowl (for men). Or urinate in a container that gets emptied, instead of flushed with water.
  • if you are fortunate enough to be able to use a urinal, you can put a dipper in the sink under your hands as you wash your hands, and pour the dipper water into the urinal to rinse out the urine
  • some places don't even need to flush, they just have holes in the ground
  • connect a discharge hose to one's washing machine that goes to the garden or to a container for later use. you need to plan out how to store the hose after use, and how to easily transfer water outlet of the washing machine from the discharge hose to the regular sewer pipe. This water goes into the ground after it is filtered, and is also evaporated through the plants (not ones to be used in salads) hopefully contributing to some future rain clouds (needs more research if evaporation from plants make rain clouds. )
  • use a feather duster to dust off one's car instead of washing, use a wet rage to wipe off other stains from the environment
  • collect rainwater
  • collect air conditioner water or divert it to the garden
  • use less clothing (unless the reader is in a cold place, in that case, reuse your outer clothing several times) to put off having to use the washing machine, until you get a full load
  • use less things that need to be washed, but do one's best to lessen unsustainable garbage too
  • pray for just the right amount of rain to fill up the region's dams

  • plant trees all along discharge waterways which makes the most of the discharged water going towards the seas/oceans, and contributes to evaporation, which in turn makes clouds, which rains down on the land.  Also see Trees in the Amazon make their own rain.

Necessities

For things that people need:

  • obtainable - they could easily be obtained from nature
  • biodegradable - they would go back to nature, even be beneficial to natural cycles and the biosphere: organisms and plants
  • they would be prioritized - each person would have the capability to categorize each necessity according to importance and aim to acquire the most important first
  • people would have a way to buy them or barter for them
  • people would have a way to make them
  • people would have a way to work for them
  • we can also infer that people wouldn't really need much if everything is readily available through these methods. (Shed some light on this.)

Questions:
What about inorganic things that people make?
-- these are meant to be used and reused  a lot.  (Tools -- yes,   plastic bags in landfills and waterways -- no.
