Recent updates have prevented computers from starting properly and becoming stuck at the circling dots circle with black background.

What do we do when this happens. Here's a guide:
  • Don't restart or shutdown with the power button
  • Let the circling dots finish preparing or restoring the computer, this might take up to half a day or the whole day
  • When windows starts, uninstall the feature update that might have caused this:
  • Start Menu > Settings > Update & Security > View update history > Uninstall updates
  • Search for KB4541335 (current bad update as of this post)
  • Right-click/double click it to open the uninstall option

If the computer is still on Windows 10 1903, keep it on that version as it is more stable and don't update to 1909 yet.

This has been tested on an Asus K75DE Laptop with A10-4600M processor, storage uses an ssd for the OS and a regular hard drive for data.

We had left the circling dots alone, and it started back up. When this happened again (after about three weeks) with the circling dots, the laptop was restarted with the power button, because it has been decided to install a different OS. This rendered the Data hard drive inaccessible.

We have posted this so that others won't repeat the same mistake, and help the community to be more resilient.

This was tested on a Lenovo G40, with Windows 10, version 1909. Plugging in big speakers into the audio jack produces sound, but there is no bass, the sound quality sounds like it is coming from small phone speakers.

Workaround with a Windows quirk:
  • Right click on sound icon, lower right of the screen on taskbar
  • Click on 'open sound settings'
  • Keep this window open in the background while the video is playing
  • That's it, better sound quality

If you close the sound settings window, the sound goes back to being all-treble

This post pertains to Warframe.  A game where you can get lots of insights that you can apply in life.  Here's the Skiajati weapon build.
Picture
You can get that weapon after acquiring the Excalibur Umbra warframe in one of the quests.  The above build uses the Sacrificial mods that are not fully upgraded yet.  Here's another build with more damage.

But without the sacrificial mods, the polarities are not maximized.

So you upgraded to Windows 10 on your Lenovo G40 laptop and two finger (right click options menu) stopped working?

Here's how to get it back:

1. Run regedit
2. In Registry Editor, go to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Synaptics\SynTP\Defaults
3. Right click on white area on the right side, select New-> DWORD 32 Bit.  Name it 2FingerTapAction.
4. Double click on your newly created 2FingerTapAction key and Enter 2 as the value, decimal.

See the image below for clarification.

4.  Close Registry Editor
5. Restart your computer, and try the two finger tap on the desktop to see if the context option menu appears.  It should be working.
